Elder Mario L. Davis, Co-Pastor
“I will sing to the Lord, for he has triumphed gloriously…The Lord is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation. This is my God, and I will praise him, my father's God, and I will exalt him.” Exodus 15:1, 2
Prolific songwriter, musician, composer, psalmist, worshipper, preacher, and teacher are a few of the attributes that could describe the life of a 21 st Century David, Elder Mario L. Davis.
He was born in Durham , North Carolina to Reverend Nick Edward Davis and Bishop Marion Patterson and Deacon Alfred Patterson on October 13, 1981 . He is the ninth of ten siblings.
He was educated in the Durham Public Schools System, Durham , NC and graduated from Southern Durham High School in 1999. After graduation, he attended North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University , Greensboro , NC for a period of two years. Presently, he is a rising senior at North Carolina Central University , Durham , NC , where his major is Music Education with a concentration in Voice.
Co-Pastor Davis has a passion for music and desired at the age of three to be a musician. He is affectionately known by many of peers as “Twinkie” Clark, Jr. At the age of four he began formal training and at age nine, he began playing for church services. As was David, he is skilled and cunning, gifted to play the piano, organ, sing and direct choirs under a heavy anointing. Because of humility and walking in obedience and submission to God, he has been afforded the opportunity to accompany several soloists, Pastors, Bishops, Evangelists, and many others on a local, national, and international level. He is also a recording artist and has been featured as a lead soloist and background vocalist for NCCU Jazz Ensemble, NCCU Touring and Concert Choirs, and as a background vocalist for Pastor Hallie Evans. He also served as Musical Director for R&B Artist Rosa Russ.
Although he has a great love for music, he also loves to share the good news through the preached word. He accepted the calling into the ministry at age ten and preached his initial sermon at the age of fourteen. At age twenty-one, he was elevated to the office of Jr. Pastor and ordained as an Elder. One year later, he was appointed as Co-Pastor and Senior Elder of VICM and is currently serving in this capacity. Elder Davis is a dynamite young man with a word of deliverance in his mouth and through the influence of the Holy Spirit; he walks in the five-fold ministry with a specific sensitivity to the Prophetic Office.
Highly respected and admired, he prefers to be remembered and recognized as the little red boy with the big voice singing, playing, and preaching about God's goodness as a light shining in a dark world.
